Parents/Grandparents Sponsorship

You can sponsor your parents and grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada if you submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 and were invited to apply for the 2021 intake. If you are invited to apply, you must submit and assess two applications for the parents and grandparents program: the sponsorship application and the application for permanent residency If both applications are granted, you'll sign an undertaking, which begins the day the person you're sponsoring (and their family members, if applicable) become permanent residents of Canada.

Who can apply?

You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents, whether they are blood relatives or adopted relatives. If you're sponsoring divorced parents and grandparents, you'll need to submit separate applications. If your divorced parents or grandparents have a current spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, they become dependents on the application and, if accepted, they can move to Canada with your parents and grandparents. Only if they qualify as dependent children can you add your brothers and sisters, half brothers and sisters, or stepbrothers and stepsisters in the application. You must meet the income requirements for everyone you want to sponsor, as well as their dependents.

1)Do I get a refund if I turn you down as a sponsor?

If we reject you as a sponsor, you can choose to have us continue to handle your family's application for permanent residency. You will not be reimbursed the $75 CAN sponsorship fee if you choose to withdraw your application. All other fees will be refunded to you. You will not be reimbursed any money if you wish us to continue processing.
2)What documentation do I need to send after my parent's and grandparent's residence application has been approved?

Your parents and grandparents, as well as their dependents who are emigrating to Canada with them, will need to provide us documents in order for us to finish processing their application. their passports or passport photocopies (we'll let you know which one they should send) 1 photograph (front and back of 1 photo) If you haven't already done so, please send us the receipt for the right of permanent residence fee.
3)How the people you’re sponsoring can check their application?

Create a secure IRCC online account and attach it to their application A paper application or one filed electronically through the permanent residence application portal are both acceptable. Only until we've started processing their application and sent them their application number will they be able to do so.
