Who can Apply ?

According to current immigration law, in order to qualify for citizenship and naturalization, an applicant must have had a permanent resident status for three years in the previous five years. To become a Canadian citizen, the majority of applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • You must not be subject to a removal order.

What is the correct procedure?

To apply for the citizenship application. The candidate will receive their application packet first, which will include instructions and all of the forms that must be completed. After carefully filling out all of the required forms, the application must be submitted. All of the applications are then forwarded to the Citizenship Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia. All of these applications are then pre-screened to ensure that they meet the 3-year residency requirement and are complete. Following the completion of the application, candidates must attend an interview session within 12 months of the application's submission.

    A videoconference hearing is similar to an in-person hearing, except that you communicate with an IRCC officer or Citizenship judge via one of our computers at an IRCC office. An IRCC representative will accompany you to ensure that you can see and hear the interviewer clearly. We employ video conferencing to ensure that you get your hearing as soon as feasible. Prepare for a videoconference hearing, in the same manner, you would for any other. Make sure you have everything you need by reviewing your Notice to Appear. You do not need to bring any of your own computer equipment.
